Dear Ursuline Families,
The news of the tragedy at the Sandy Hook school in Newtown CT is unbearable and our world is shaken to its core. We are united in prayer and resolve to embrace with renewed fervor the Christmas season with its hope for peace and joy.
Through the sadness that tests our faith, we will devote our daily prayers to the families of the children and teachers who suffered the terrible loss, and for the survivors who are on the front lines of carrying on, when life for this town returns to normal, if that is possible. Our Christmas liturgy on Wednesday will have new intentions.
I want to assure you that we at Ursuline are always vigilant and proactive in our security procedures. Doors are locked at 8am and all have video surveillance. Visitors must enter through the front door only when they have been buzzed in. We remind the girls not to open the doors for anyone throughout the day and we practice lock down procedures. All classroom doors can be locked from the inside. We will practice a lock down on Monday to assure the students.
We will meet with Mrs. Buster and the counseling department on Monday to strategize for the coming week. We will be prepared to be available for our students.
We are united in prayer in this time of oppressive sadness.
