FATHERS' CLUB


Purpose
  • Provide a venue through which parents of Ursuline students can work together in support of their daughters and on behalf of the school
  • Provide a forum for dads (and moms) to engage Ursuline
  • Function as an information exchange
  • Organize events & provide some measure of fundraising

Goal
  • Our goal is to structure activities that will help parents support their daughters as parents and as members of the school community

Strategies
  • Seek initiatives that align the FC more closely with the Ursuline mission statement:
    • "Educate, Inspire, Empower"
    • Looking for activities that specifically, locate or define service projects Fathers and Daughters can participate in together to support the school
      • Possibly support or augment an existing club or service project
      • e.g. AFYA, Habitat for Humanity
    • Just as the school mission statement underscores service to others, we as parents should assist the school in the development of a culture of philanthropy in our daughters, e.g. contributing to the endowment
  • Maximize participation and enable dads to become more engaged:
    • More new dads attending meetings & events especially in the 2nd half of the year when attendance typically drops off
    • More two-way communications and less information dump
    • Parents have been invited to submit themes to be considered for future meetings or projects
  • Develop activities to build school spirit (i.e., the Father Daughter Dance), promote service (i.e., Habitat for Humanity work days) and support girls' sports (i.e., Annual Homecoming Event)
  • Invite current faculty, staff, coaches and administrators to attend monthly Fathers' Club meetings to share their insight, thoughts and suggestions on how we as parents can further support our daughters' 6-12th grade experiences.

GOLF OUTING May 14, 2013

  • Welcome Back BBQ
    • Kicks off the school year - September 15, 2012
   

  •  
    • Premier Fathers' Club event and social occasion
    • Provides fathers / escorts a unique opportunity to spend a memorable evening with their daughter(s) and friends
    • Typically attended by 700-750 daughters, fathers, escorts from all grades, especially the 6th, 9th and 12th grades
    • Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Westchester Tarrytown Marriot
    • Full dinner, flowers, and band provided
    • Photographer pictures available for purchase
    • Raffles, Senior dance contests
    • Mothers. Auxiliary provides several volunteers to help
    • This event serves as the Fathers' Club's primary fundraiser


 

  • Assist at Koala Auction/Raffle
  • Homecoming Event (TBD)
  • Pancake Breakfast (TBD)
  • Coordinate Senior Gift

Meetings
Our meetings are scheduled on the first Tuesday of each month starting at 7:30 PM
  • Hear information from Mrs. Davidson and other guest speakers - that we don't typically hear from our daughters
  • Mothers are also welcome to attend, especially those who are unable to attend Mothers' Auxiliary meetings during the day
  • Fall 2012 meeting dates are:
    • September tbd
    • October 2
    • November 6
    • December 4
Volunteer Opportunities

Fathers provide important hospitality and critical assistance at school events such as the Open House, Koala auction, school dances, and Mothers' Auxiliary events.
