UNIFORM GUIDELINES
Proper acceptable clothing, neatness, and cleanliness are essential to creating and maintaining good school atmosphere. The uniform should serve to promote self-respect and pride in being identifiable as an Ursuline student. It is therefore important that each student take individual responsibility for her appearance.
Students are to be in the school uniform from the time they enter homeroom until they leave at the end of the day. Exceptions are allowed for school sponsored club and athletic activities, announced Non-Uniform Dress Code days (“Dress Down Days”), and if permission is granted from the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs for specific attire.

Dress Down Days
On designated Dress Down Days, students may wear appropriate casual attire, and for this privilege they are usually asked to make a small donation to a charity. On Dress Down Days, students may wear Ursuline athletic sweatshirts, club or team sweatshirts or fleeces, or sweatshirts or fleeces with other schools’ names on them, moccasins or boots.
The following are NOT permitted:
Lycra, spandex, or tight fitting bottoms, regardless of the top being worn long and what it may cover, or even if the top hangs below the waist.
Running shorts (because they are typically more than 3” above the knee).
Please see the printed Student Handbook for the complete guideline.
Senior Privileges
Seniors are permitted to wear the approved Ursuline sweatshirt all year round (blue Ursuline lettering on white sweatshirt or white Ursuline lettering on blue sweatshirt). With the winter uniform seniors may wear a crew shirt under the Ursuline sweatshirt. If seniors wear an Ursuline monogrammed sweater, they are to wear a navy blue or white collared shirt, just as the other students do.
Seniors are permitted to Dress Down each Friday of the school year, unless Dress Uniform is required for a special occasion that falls on a Friday. Seniors are expected to adhere to the Dress Down Days guidelines stated above.
Consequences
If a student is out of uniform, a Uniform Notice Form is to be filled out by a teacher or administrator and sent home. A student who is out of uniform may also be asked to get a uniform item from the uniform closet so as to be in uniform for that day. Any items loaned for the day are to be returned the next day clean and folded. A student out of uniform may also be given immediate detention.
It is suggested that students label their sweaters and sweatshirts with their names. The Lost and Found is accessible in the cafeteria.
