Giulia Aurrichio

Giulia studied the effect of different collagen nanofibril percentages on turbid water by using a simulation. This study can be used to help develop a safer way to filter water. She conducted her research at Manhattan College. Giulia studied alongside her mentor, Ms. Amanda Belluccio, and expanded on her mentor's previous research.
She will be studying engineering at Manhattan College. She would like to thank her science research teachers Mrs. Antonicelli and Mrs. Lyons. She would also like to thank her mentor Ms. Amanda Belluccio.

Alexa Cama 

Alexa did her study on the negative impacts of nurses working night shift, specifically focusing on body mass index and decreased mental functioning. She will be studying nursing at the University of Tampa. Alexa would like to thank Jamla Bergman, Mrs. Antonicelli, and Ms. Lyons for their support and guidance throughout her research process. She would also like to thank her Science Research classmates and parents for their support these past three years.

Victoria Diaz

Victoria conducted her study on Birth Order as a Risk Factor to Autism by statically analyzing previously published literature. She hopes to assist with understanding the factors that can lead to the development of Autism Spectrum Disorder. She will be attending Case Western Reserve University next year and hopes to major in Chemistry. She would like to thank Mrs. Antonicelli and Mrs. Lyons for guiding her throughout the year and helping her find a mentor. In addition, she would like to thank all of the researchers whose studies will be used as part of the meta-analysis, especially her mentor Dr. Stephen Buka of Brown University.

Cate Hughes

Cate conducted her study on the effect of neighborhood poverty on self-rated health in New York City. She has always loved science and looking further into topics that she doesn't understand. Cate will be studying chemistry at Boston University and intends to pursue research in college and at the graduate level. She would like to thank her mentor, Dr. Jason Barr for his support and guidance.

Elyse Keum

Elyse studyied the correlation between Body Mass Index and Generalized Anxiety Disorder in adolescent females. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a positive correlation between the two variables. She would like to thank her mentor Dr. Margaret McCarthy, Mrs. Antonicelli, and Mrs. Lyons for all their help and support.

Ali Riccio

Ali conducted research to evaluate if the risk of Sudden Cardiac Death would be reduced by the addition of an EKG to the preparticipation screening of young athletes with underlying cardiac disorders. Ali plans to major in Biological Sciences at Cornell University next fall. She conducted her research at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla with the help of her mentor Dr. Christa Miliaresis.
She would like to thank Dr. Miliaresis, Mrs. Antonicelli, and Ms. Lyons for their help and support throughout her research process. She would also like to thank her parents and fellow classmates for their support.

Leah Varghese

Leah tested the efficiency of the first in vivo optical nanosensor capable of noninvasive cancer biomarker detection in orthotopic models of disease and HGSC. She conducted her research at the Mortimer B. Zuckerman Research Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering. She would like to thank her mentors Dr. Anney Mannancheril, Dr. Daniel A. Heller, Dr. Zvi Yaari, her teachers Mrs. Antonicelli and Mrs. Lyons, and her lab partners from the Mortimer B. Zuckerman Research Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She would also like to thank her fellow Science Research peers and her parents for all their help and support.

Sophia Vitolo

Sophia conducted her research on how different breast cancer treatments affect a women's body image. Alongside her mentor, Dr. Fou, Sophia distributed surveys to breast cancer patients from Westchester Medical and patients who attended Gilda's Club (an emotional support group for women with breast cancer). Sophia was able to detect how women who received lumpectomies and mastectomies differ in their degrees of body image issues. She hopes to continue her studies in science in the future by having a major in Biology and minoring in neuroscience at The Pennsylvania State University. Sophia would like to thank her mentor Dr. Fou and her science research teachers Mrs. Antonicelli and Mrs. Lyons.

Lorelei Wolf

For her project, Lorelei researched the changing climatic patterns of New York City, New York, and Tokyo, Japan, in order to better understand their relationship and climate change as a whole. She has always loved environmental science and hopes to study anthropology with a concentration in environmental studies in college. Lorelei would like to thank Dr. Atha, Mrs. Lyons, and Mrs. Antonicelli who made this journey possible.
